Job description

As a Senior Digital-Analog Board Designer at IT Link, you will experience a wide range of industries, functions and customers; you will change roles without quitting your employer! As examples, solutions designed by IT Link in Canada have led to improved clinical training and patient safety at a global healthcare player; improved the performance and software quality of an energy storage system; and provided a Quebec transportation company with a predictive advance-delay solution for buses. The Senior Digital-Analog Board Designer will be responsible for the design of digital processing/control, motor control, sampling or pattern generation boards for space applications. These boards will include
FPGAs and occasionally CPUs and various serial and parallel interfaces. Space applications are space robotics, telecommunications (including constellations), radar imaging, CPU boards etc.

Responsibilities:

  • Convert board-level requirements into a board design concept
  • Architecture, I/Os, key parts, dissipation estimation, etc.
  • Prepare electrical schematic, parts list and initial parts layout
  • Plan board routing and provide routing requirements and constraints
  • Oversee board layout and review board Gerbers, board drawings and assembly

  • Work with structural and thermal designers on board design and layout
  • Prepare various analyses (e.g. worst-case analysis, AMPEC)
  • Support board assembly and perform tests on initial models (e.g. development model)

  • Prepare functional and environmental test plans and procedures for flight models
  • Supervise flight card testing in own laboratories
  • Support VHDL developers programming embedded FPGAs, CPU board software developers

Salary: 100,000-150,000$/year (depending on experience)

Profile

Profile

  • Eight (8) to twenty (20) years' experience in the design of CPU, digital or analog boards
  • Proficiency in schematic input tools (e.g. Mentor Xpedition, PADS)
  • Regular user of Excel spreadsheets, MathCAD, Spice, Matlab or other similar tools.
  • Knowledge of unassembled board manufacturing processes
  • Experience in performing analyses

Assets

  • Knowledge of the effects of space radiation on parts
  • Exposure to mechanical encapsulation
  • Experience in design and high-speed digital layout
